How to level a Horde character fast in WoW: Forever

· by Davina Asaria

Launch is on November 4, so time to make a plan. Here is the best Horde route from level 1 to 60, the dungeons worth running on the way, and every trick we know to level faster.

Keep in mind: the beta stopped at level 30. Levels 1 to 30 are tested, 30 to 60 is based on Blizzard's announcements and the game files, so some level ranges can still move a little at launch.

Level 1 to 12: your starting zone

  • Orc and Troll: Durotar.
  • Tauren: Mulgore.
  • Undead: Tirisfal Glades, up to about level 12.
  • Skyborne: Zephras Isle up to level 12, then the airship to Mulgore and on to Thrall in Orgrimmar.

Pick up your capital's flight master before you leave.

Level 12 to 20

  • The Barrens (the Crossroads) for orcs, trolls and tauren, Silverpine Forest (the Sepulcher) for undead, and then Stonetalon Mountains.
  • Ragefire Chasm in Orgrimmar: best at 14 to 16, with all five quests.
  • Ruins of Lordaeron (15 to 20): a new dungeon right above the Undercity, with eight Horde quests.
  • Wailing Caverns in the Barrens, around 18 to 22.

Level 20 to 30

  • Ashenvale (Splintertree Post), Hillsbrad Foothills (Tarren Mill), Thousand Needles and Stonetalon.
  • Use the zeppelins between Orgrimmar and the Undercity to switch continents when a zone runs out of quests.
  • Skip Redridge, Duskwood and the Wetlands: there is no Horde flight path there.
  • Dungeons: Shadowfang Keep, the new Excavation Site in the Wetlands (24 to 29, three Horde quests) and the City of Dalaran (28 to 33). The Horde attunement for Dalaran starts in Tarren Mill: https://legendsofazeroth.com/news/how-to-get-attuned-to-the-city-of-dalaran-dungeon-as-horde

Level 30 to 40

  • Stranglethorn Vale (take the zeppelin to Grom'gol), Desolace (with new quests) and the Arathi Highlands (Hammerfall).
  • The new Riverglades open around level 33 to 36: more than 150 quests, our own Horde story with the Boulderrock ogres, Horde flight master Rog'mar and The Bloodmasters Ring. More about it: https://legendsofazeroth.com/news/past-level-30-blizzard-shows-the-road-to-60-in-wow-forever
  • Dungeons: Razorfen Kraul, Scarlet Monastery, the new Drowned City (35 to 40) and Razorfen Downs.

Level 40 to 50

  • Finish the Riverglades, including the ogre fortress Krol'dok Stronghold (40 to 45).
  • Then take the ship from Powderfuse Port to Tanaris, and on to Feralas (Camp Mojache) and The Hinterlands (Revantusk Village).
  • Dungeons: Uldaman, Zul'Farrak, Maraudon and the new Alcaz Prison (48 to 53).

Level 50 to 60

  • Un'Goro Crater, Felwood (Bloodvenom Post) and Azshara (Valormok), then the Plaguelands, Winterspring (Everlook) and Silithus.
  • Dungeons: Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire, and the new Blackmaw Hold (55 to 60) and Shaper's Terrace (58 to 60).
  • Running Lower Blackrock Spire anyway? Start the Onyxia attunement in Kargath at the same time: https://legendsofazeroth.com/news/the-three-raids-of-wow-forever-and-the-horde-road-to-onyxia
  • Mount Hyjal is level 60 content and the end of the leveling story.

Level faster: the tricks

  • Rested XP: log out in an inn or a capital. Rest doubles the experience from monsters until it runs out.
  • Campfires: sitting at a campfire gives you rested status out in the world too. A Leatherworker's Camp Tent adds rested experience (5% of a level), and the Fisher's Fish Bowl gives everyone 8% more stats. All about camping: https://legendsofazeroth.com/news/camping-in-wow-forever-what-every-profession-brings-to-the-campfire
  • Legacy System: your first point comes around level 25, with up to 16 points at launch. Well Rested raises your rested cap and makes it build up faster.
  • Crafted food gives a small experience bonus.
  • Dungeons: monsters in dungeons give about 20% more experience, but the extra experience from dungeon quests was halved. Best plan: run each dungeon once with all its quests, then go back to questing. Farming the same dungeon over and over isn't worth it.
  • Group XP: everyone now gets experience based on their own level. But if someone in the group is far above the monster's level, nobody gets experience for that kill. A high level friend can't boost you.

Good to know

  • There is no Dungeon Finder: you form groups yourself. That's what a guild is for!
  • There are no flying mounts, so grab every flight path on your route. Your first mount already includes the riding skill.
  • Levelling is slower than in Classic, around 15 seconds per kill when solo. Many streamers say: treat it like an RPG and enjoy the journey.
  • There is no proven fastest class yet.
  • RestedXP has a Forever route that isn't complete yet, and Zygor brings its Forever guides at launch.

What this means for Legends of Azeroth

We level as a guild: groups for Ragefire, the Ruins of Lordaeron and every dungeon after that, a campfire with a Camp Tent and a Fish Bowl at every stop, and help with the Dalaran and Onyxia attunements. Post in Discord or on the forum when you're looking for a group, and see you in Durotar on November 4!
