Camping in WoW: Forever: what every profession brings to the campfire
Camping is one of the new systems of WoW: Forever, and Blizzard now explained exactly how it works. A simple Cooking Fire becomes a shared camp where players rest, prepare and meet each other on the road.
How a camp works
- With Cooking you place a Basic Campfire. That turns the spot into a campsite for everyone nearby.
- Other players can each add one camp feature, up to three per campfire. Cooks later learn better campfires that hold five or even ten features.
- Sit or craft at the camp for at least one minute and you get the buffs of all features there. They last an hour.
- The camp buffs are versions of class buffs, so they don't stack with the class buff they copy.
- All camp features need a campfire nearby and share a one hour cooldown.
How you get them
- A short quest early on introduces camping.
- From profession skill 20 you get the first camp items, through quests in the starting zones or from a profession trainer.
- Items that need skill 140 or higher drop in dungeons and raids.
What every profession brings
- Cooking, Basic Campfire: the camp itself, also for cooking.
- First Aid, First Aid Kit: more Stamina, like Power Word: Fortitude.
- Fishing, Fishing Bowl: 8% more stats, like Blessing of Kings.
- Alchemy, Mana Well: mana regeneration, like Blessing of Wisdom.
- Blacksmithing, Sharpening Wheel: more Strength, like Strength of Earth Totem.
- Enchanting, Enchanted Lute: armor, all stats and resistances, like Mark of the Wild.
- Engineering, Reagent Bot: buy reagents out in the world.
- Herbalism, Incense Candle: more Intellect, like Arcane Intellect.
- Leatherworking, Camp Tent: extra rested experience, 5% of a level.
- Skinning, Camp Chair: 2% more critical strike, like Moonkin Aura.
- Tailoring, Faction Banner: more Spirit for your faction, like Divine Spirit.
Professions also unlock handy extras, like Alchemy Laboratories and Tanning Racks.
Professions in short
- You can learn two primary professions: the gathering professions Skinning, Mining and Herbalism, or the crafting professions Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking and Tailoring.
- You can learn all three secondary professions: Cooking, Fishing and First Aid.
- Ranks go from Apprentice to Journeyman, Expert and Artisan.
Choose your spot
Not every place is safe for a rest. Monsters can still find you, and on a PvP ruleset an enemy camp is an easy target.
What this means for Legends of Azeroth
A guild that camps together gets stronger together. With a cook, a fisher and a few crafters in the group you have a campfire full of buffs before every dungeon. Talk about who learns what in the profession forums, so we cover every camp feature as a guild.
