Two warnings from Blizzard: restricted names fixed, and pay your carries directly

Community Manager Kaivax posted two messages on the forums that are useful to know right now.

Name blocked? Try again after the fix

WoW: Forever uses a restricted name list: names of big lore characters and names that are blocked for technical reasons. Blizzard found a bug that made this list far too strict. Names with "con" in them, for example, were refused for no reason.

The fix comes with the next realm restart in each region. Did you get "That name is restricted" for a name that should be fine? Then try it again after that restart. Gold for a carry must come directly

Blizzard just finished a new round of bans against accounts that bought gold with real money (RMT). Some buyers had the seller deliver that gold straight to another player, for example a guild that sold them a raid carry.

The rule from now on:

  • Gold for a carry or other service must go directly from the buyer to the player who provides it.
  • Gold that comes from a third player is very likely illicit gold. Blizzard can remove it, and accounts can be suspended.
  • This also applies to guilds that sell carries: if the payment comes through someone else, the guild can lose that gold.

What this means for Legends of Azeroth

Name refused? Give it another try after the next restart. And if you ever sell a carry or service: only accept gold directly from the buyer. Gold from someone you don't know is not worth the risk for you or the guild.
