Reserve your character names from October 27 (update)

· by Davina Asaria

Want to be sure of your name at launch? WoW: Forever gets an Early Name Reservation.

Update: you create the whole character

Name reservation is more than just a name. You go through the normal character creation and make the actual character: race, class, looks and the name you want. Blizzard doesn't say you can enter the world before launch, and during earlier name reservations (WoW Classic, TBC Classic) you couldn't: on launch day you simply logged in with that character.

Changing your race or class later most likely means deleting the character, and then your name is free for someone else again. So decide on your main first, race and class included, and then claim the name on October 27 at 18:00 CET.

When

  • Europe: from Tuesday October 27 at 18:00 CET until November 3.
  • Launch follows on November 4.

Who can reserve

Players who pre-purchased the Skyborne Heroic Pack, the Skyborne Epic Pack or the limited Warcraft Forever Collection. It only works on the WoW account you bought it for.

How it works

  • You can reserve names for up to three characters in total, across all rulesets together. Two on a PvP ruleset means one more on Normal or Role Play.
  • That limit only applies during the reservation period.
  • Names are first come, first served. A name you want is never guaranteed.

How to do it

  1. Update your graphics drivers.
  2. Open the Battle.net app and let it update.
  3. Choose World of Warcraft, and in the Game Version menu pick World of Warcraft: Forever. Click Install.
  4. Click Play, choose your ruleset and create up to three characters with the names you want.

What this means for Legends of Azeroth

Remember: in WoW: Forever a name has two parts, a first name and a surname, and that combination is unique in the region. On our website your account name is your main character's name too, so make sure you claim it on October 27, with the race and class you really want to play! Agree with your friends which ruleset we play on before you use your three spots, and let us know in Discord which names you got.
