Skyborne get Standard Definition models in early 2027
Last week Blizzard promised more news about the Skyborne models (read: https://legendsofazeroth.com/news/blizzard-teases-more-news-about-the-skyborne-models). Here it is: the Skyborne get Standard Definition models, and the HD Druid forms are being reworked.
Why
From the start, the goal for WoW: Forever was to keep the look of the original game while giving players more choice. During development the team learned what fits in the Forever world and what doesn't. Some ideas did not quite match the consistency they were aiming for, so they are revisiting a few visuals.
The HD Skyborne Druid forms
The first example: the High Definition Skyborne Druid forms. Blizzard made them a little less soft, gave them more detailed fur and adjusted the colours. The Skyborne come from an exotic place and their forms may show that, but they should not clash with the other creatures in the world.

Standard Definition Skyborne
The SD or HD toggle for player characters was made for the races of the original game, because so many players love those old models. But players said that HD Skyborne can look out of place next to SD characters in an SD world, and Blizzard agrees.
So SD Skyborne player characters, SD Druid forms included, are in development and arrive in early 2027. More news follows closer to that date. The image at the top of this article is an early work in progress.
