Molten Core gets new mechanics in WoW: Forever
Good news for every raider who has cleared Molten Core a hundred times: in WoW: Forever it won't be the same old raid.
What Blizzard said
In the End of Beta Special of the WoW: Forever Podcast, Senior Game Designer Josh "Aggrend" Greenfield was asked if Molten Core would get new mechanics, or would feel like a step back after the brand new raids in Hyjal.
- His answer: you are not just going to tank and spank Golemagg, "there may be a little more to it".
- At BlizzCon Blizzard already used the words "revamped" and "reimagined" for it.
- The idea: going from the new raids in Hyjal back to a Molten Core everyone has already solved should not feel jarring.
Which mechanics exactly, Blizzard didn't say yet.
When?
The official roadmap (the picture above) shows a "revamped iconic raid" in the big summer 2027 update, together with a new raid, two new dungeons and more. Blizzard doesn't name it on the roadmap, but Molten Core is the obvious candidate. Until then the raids are Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair from December 9, and in spring 2027 two more new raids follow.

What this means for Legends of Azeroth
Molten Core with new tricks means a raid that even our veterans have to learn again. That's a long way off, so first: level, gear up and get attuned for Onyxia!
