How the WoW: Forever beta ended: world bosses, legendaries and the Scourge plague
Blizzard did not let the WoW: Forever beta end quietly. In the last hours before the servers went dark on Friday October 23 at 19:00 CEST, the whole world turned into one big farewell party. We announced the celebration before (https://legendsofazeroth.com/news/last-day-of-the-beta-a-24-hour-celebration-and-an-end-of-beta-podcast), and this is how it went.
Party supplies at the capitals
In front of the capital cities a new NPC handed out special consumables:
- Fireworks.
- A scroll that makes you and the players around you faster.
- A potion that gives 200% more experience.
World bosses in the starting zones
Low level zones suddenly got visitors that normally only a raid can handle:
- Azuregos, the blue dragon.
- Lord Kazzak, the demon lord.
- Thunderaan, the elemental prince of wind.
- Voracious.
- And a "Super" Hogger: the famous gnoll of Elwynn Forest, but much bigger and much angrier.
Legendaries for everyone
Whoever helped defeat these bosses could walk away with a legendary: Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros or Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. On top of that, ordinary monsters in every starting zone dropped pieces of the Classic Tier 1 sets, enough for the full set bonuses, and Molten Core weapons.
And then the plague came
As a finale Blizzard brought back the contaminated crates from the Scourge invasion of 2008, the event that led up to Wrath of the Lich King. Whoever opened one caught the plague and passed it on to everyone nearby, and within no time the Scourge plague was spreading across Azeroth.
Not in the live game
Just like we wrote before: this was a one time party for the beta. Legendaries from Hogger and Tier 1 from boars are not coming to WoW: Forever at launch.
