How PvP progression works in WoW: Forever
Blizzard explained how PvP works in WoW: Forever. The idea: keep the competitive feeling of the original game, but make it easier to jump in and give you reasons to keep playing all season long. Their design goal is "Approachable and Familiar": the old Honor System, simplified, but still true to its roots.
Two parts: Honor and Rank Points
Honor is a currency. You earn it by defeating other players, finishing battlegrounds and doing PvP quests. The battleground that has its holiday week gives extra Honor. Blizzard also evened out the Honor you get in each battleground, so you no longer have to run Alterac Valley just because it pays the most.
Rank Points come from battlegrounds and PvP quests, again with a bonus in the holiday-week battleground. They move you up through the familiar PvP ranks of the original game, all the way to High Warlord for the Horde (Grand Marshal for the Alliance). There is a weekly cap: it goes up every week, to a maximum of 24,750 Rank Points for Rank 14.

You can follow your progress in your character window (C), on the Player vs. Player tab on the right. It shows your rank, your Rank Points and which rewards you can buy at your rank. For the Horde, the rewards are sold in the Hall of Legends in Orgrimmar.
PvP gear
With Honor you can buy two PvP sets: a blue set and an epic set. To get the epic version of a piece, you need the blue piece plus an Emboldened Seal, and those seals have a rank requirement. Blizzard also added new and reworked items for specs that had no PvP gear before. Shamans, for example, now get a healer, a melee and a caster set.
Rewards per rank
- Rank 1: tabard
- Rank 2: PvP trinket
- Rank 3: cloaks
- Rank 4: necklace
- Rank 5: combat potions
- Rank 6: tabard
- Rank 7: battle standard
- Rank 8: epic bracers and epic belt upgrade token
- Rank 9: epic boots upgrade token
- Rank 10: epic gloves upgrade token
- Rank 11: mounts
- Rank 12: epic legs and epic shoulders upgrade token
- Rank 13: epic chest and epic helm upgrade token
- Rank 14: epic weapons
PvP seasons
During a season you climb the ranks and earn Honor. Every season also has a journey with weekly tasks that give Honor and Rank Points. Three of those tasks per season also give a Legacy Point. Because they are part of the Legacy System, you can still finish them in later seasons.
What this means for Legends of Azeroth
The road to High Warlord is back, but with a weekly cap: playing a bit every week gets you further than grinding day and night. Want to queue for battlegrounds together? Find a group in our Discord or on the forum. For the Horde!
